Hoo Else is Excited to See the New Pottermore Changes?
Last year Pottermore came down as the developers decided to revamp the site, and sadly the site and all of its wonders vanished. A new site took it's place as a source of media on all things Harry Potter. Which I always loved to visit on occasion to catch up the world J.K. Rowling made us all fall in love with. Yet, it never had the Hogwarts feel that the old Pottermore gave us with its illustrated adventures, and of course the sorting hat that placed us all into the houses we belonged in. The site just become a somewhat smaller version of its old glory, yet hope has recently begun to rekindle for the site.
The new Pottermore site combines some of the great aspects of the old website from its glory days, with the newer news and media based Pottermore that took its place. The site once again allows its viewers a sorting hat option to view which Hogwarts House they would be placed into. And it does so by offering a beautifully illustrated quiz to help you find out which of the four Hogwarts houses you best fit into. However, that isn't the only new option available, as visitors are now able to sort into the North American School Ilvermorny, announced in June as a back story for the new film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and just like Hogwarts there are four houses that need students to join them.Once again you are able to complete another wonderfully illustrated quiz as you sort into another house for another school. Not only are you able to discover which house you belong to in each of these schools, but you are able to find out which type of wand would belong to you as well.
Though many of us old Potterheads miss the original Pottermore I have to admit that I'm excited for what J.K. Rowling is offering us now. More content seems to constantly be added to the site, and in the future who knows what other opportunities will arise as things continue to progress. I'm personally excited every time I visit the site because it brings back an unshakable feeling of nostalgia, and I can feel my excitement for the future of Harry Potter grow as I see what new ideas Rowling is adding to the Potter universe. Maybe in time there will be more films/books on schools from other countries, and Pottermore may need to add another sorting hat quiz.
My experience with the sorting came out as a hoot as I pondered on the questions asked from me during the quiz. It took me some time to figure out my answers for the quiz, as I kept glancing back at the illustrations offered for each new question. I felt very excited as I was being re-immersed in the whimsical world of Harry Potter, and I couldn't wait to see which house I would be placed into for both Hogwarts and Ilvermorny. I wasn't all too surprised with my placement in Ravenclaw for Hogwarts, since I'd previously been placed there, and have already accepted the house as my home. I was surprised, however, as I finished the Ilvermorny quiz and ended up being placed into the Thunderbird House. To be honest, I hadn't known the names of the different houses or their mascots, but once the sorting concluded I was a little taken aback by the color and emblem representing Thunderbird. Red and gold were the first things to catch my eye as I saw the emblem for the first time, and my initial reaction to the house was that it instantly made me think of Gryffindor. I was somewhat expecting a placement in a house with a blue emblem similar to Ravenclaw, but I must say I'm not all too disappointed. Thunderbird does have some awesome traits as it represents the soul and favors adventurers. So now if I add the two houses together I am someone who loves adventure and ways of the soul but also believes that wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure.
Now that I've explained some of the new features and details about Pottermore, as well as what houses I've been sorted into and my excitement for the site, please let me know what you feel about the site as well as what houses you've been placed into. Thank you very much for reading what I've had to say, and I hope you have a hoo-underful day.
